The Leadership Institute
Macy’s trains its best and brightest managers at The Leadership Institute. The registration process for The Leadership Institute programs originally were overly-complex and managed manually. We developed an online registration platform with a backend administration portal that streamlined and shortened the application process and automated several tasks to reduce administrative overhead.
Next we developed an intranet site to communicate leadership philosophy, facilitate training sessions and serve as a resource library for Macy’s vast store of knowledge. We conducted research and found one of the primary needs of attendees was to be able to communicate with one another — both past and current. We implemented discussion boards that enable this communication and give attendees a way to share their own best practices and learn from their colleagues. Interactive polls and surveys facilitate continual improvement and enrichment of the program.
The next step was to ensure the right people knew about this career development resource. To drive traffic and increase awareness, the Sanger & Eby team designed communication materials for distribution within the Macy’s organization to promote the site and The Leadership Institute.
