Communications support corporate restructuring

Corporate restructuring has been a major component of Macy’s continued growth and Sanger & Eby has been a key partner in developing communications supporting the organizational changes and the culture. From turning diverse brands and name plates to a unified nationwide organization to converting the corporate name from Federated Department Stores to Macy’s, Inc., we’ve worked with them every step of the way.

For the Federated (Macy’s) – May merger, Sanger & Eby developed an employee communication strategy to facilitate the transition. We created a welcome kit that was rolled out to all new May employees the day the merger was approved by the FTC, and developed an intranet site to serve as an information center and resource hub for employees. We also created an analyst website with up-to-the minute press releases, FTC information, and information and news about the merger.

In 2008, the company phased out its diverse nameplates to unify under the single Macy’s brand. To support this effort, Sanger & Eby created strategically aligned print and interactive components to simplify the transition for associates as well as customers.

As Macy’s continued to evolve and grow, Sanger & Eby developed an employee website with an online application for jobs nationwide, outplacement resources, surveys to gauge program success and facilitate continuous improvement, and back-end administration for streamlined access to employee information and reporting.
