Employees who understand their benefits have higher employee engagement and feel more valued, but a recent survey from Maestro Health shows one-third of employees don’t understand their benefits. Sanger & Eby created a custom benefits portal to help a client bridge the gap and deepen employee engagement.

Challenge

With benefits, human resources, and payroll information existing in three separate systems with different user experiences and separate logins, our client’s employees struggled to find and correlate the information they needed. With multiple hosting solutions in place and third-party tools required for integration, syncing and maintaining data was also a challenge.

The global organization had experienced extensive growth through acquisition of other companies, which meant benefits and policies varied across divisions and geographies. This also made access management even more challenging. The company’s HR teams were flooded with information requests from frustrated users who either couldn’t find the data they needed or needed help correlating differing data across systems.

Clearly, the company needed a better solution.

Strategy

Sanger & Eby developed a unified, secure HR Portal incorporating benefits, HR, payroll, and information alerts in a single, responsive intranet site complete with:

  • Single Sign On (SSO) to simplify user experience and achieve security requirements
  • Drupal content management system (CMS) was used to manage content, documents and links
  • Access managed through a custom PeopleSoft integration

The new portal utilizes the same design framework as the careers website, also created by Sanger & Eby. This approach creates a consistent experience for users as they transition from candidate to employee – important in driving deeper engagement, encouraging retention, and reinforcing the client’s engaging employment brand.

The responsive website is accessible to users anywhere across any device and users are able to quickly and easily access the correct information, boosting productivity and creating peace of mind for employees around the world, while maintaining a high level of security.
